Work and Settle in Canada as a Caregiver

Canada values the compassion and dedication of caregivers who support families,
children, and seniors. The Caregiver Immigration Program provides foreign
nationals with the opportunity to work in Canada and eventually apply for
Permanent Residency (PR).
At V9 Immigration Inc., our CICC-licensed immigration consultants guide
caregivers through every step — from obtaining a work permit to achieving
permanent residency under IRCC’s Home Child Care Provider and Home
Support Worker pilot programs.

Canada’s Caregiver Programs We Specialize In

1. Home Child Care Provider Pilot (HCCP)

This program is for individuals who care for children below 18 years of age in their own home or their employer’s home.

  1. Occupation Code: NOC 44100 (Home Child Care Provider)
  2. No need to live in the employer’s home (optional)
  3. Eligible for PR after 24 months of qualifying work experience

2. Home Support Worker Pilot (HSWP)

For caregivers who provide personal care and support to seniors, persons with disabilities, or those recovering from illness.

  1. Occupation Code: NOC 44101 (Home Support Worker)
  2. Can include roles like personal aide, family caregiver, or attendant
  3. Eligible for PR after 24 months of work experience

Pathway to PR Through the Caregiver Program

The Caregiver Pilots are designed to allow qualified applicants to work and earn Canadian work experience while moving toward permanent residence.

Step 1: Eligibility Check
We assess your experience, education, and language proficiency to confirm eligibility under the HCCP or HSWP.

Step 2: Work Permit Application
We assist in applying for an occupation-restricted open work permit, which allows you to work for any eligible employer in Canada.

Step 3: Gain Canadian Experience
After completing 24 months of eligible full-time work experience, you can apply for Permanent Residency (PR).

Step 4: Permanent Residency Application
Our consultants prepare and submit a comprehensive PR application package to IRCC.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify under either pilot, you must:

  1. Have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer
  2. Meet the language requirements (CLB 5) in English or French
  3. Have 1 year of post-secondary education (Canadian or equivalent foreign credential)
  4. Prove your ability and intent to perform caregiving duties
  5. Meet medical and security requirements

At V9 Immigration Inc., we help you ensure all documentation — job offers, ECA, and work experience — meets IRCC standards for faster approval.

Processing Time

The current average processing time for caregiver work permit and PR applications is 6–12 months, depending on workload and completeness of your application. We make sure every form and document is accurate and compliant, minimizing unnecessary delays.
