Live, Work, and Settle in Canada’s Rural and Northern Communities

The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) is a unique Canadian immigration program designed to spread skilled immigration to smaller communities across Canada.

This program allows skilled workers to obtain Permanent Residency (PR) while supporting the economic growth of rural and northern towns.

At V9 Immigration Inc., our CICC-licensed immigration consultants guide applicants through RNIP eligibility, community selection, job offers, and PR application — ensuring a smooth and successful pathway to Canadian immigration.

What is the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP)?

RNIP is a community-driven program where participating communities in Canada recommend eligible skilled workers for permanent residency.

Key features of RNIP:

  1. Employer-driven nominations: Applicants must have a valid full-time job offer from a participating employer.
  2. Community recommendation: The community ensures candidates meet local labor needs.
  3. Direct Permanent Residency: Applicants who meet criteria can apply for PR after receiving a community recommendation.

Participating communities are located in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan, and the Territories, offering opportunities beyond major urban centers.

Eligible Candidates for RNIP

To qualify for the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot, applicants must:

Have a valid full-time, non-seasonal job offer from a participating employer in a designated community.

Meet minimum work experience requirements:

  • At least 1 year of continuous full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time) in the past 3 years.

Meet education and skill requirements:

  • High school diploma or higher; or equivalent foreign credential depending on the community’s labor needs.

Language proficiency:

  • Meet CLB 4 (English or French) in reading, writing, speaking, and listening for most streams.

Intent to live in the community

  • Demonstrate commitment to reside and integrate into the participating rural or northern community.

Medical and Security Checks

  • Applicants and dependents must pass standard IRCC medical and criminal background checks.

Participating Communities in Canada

Some examples of communities in RNIP include:

  1. British Columbia: Abbotsford, Dawson Creek, Vernon
  2. Ontario: Thunder Bay, Timmins, Sault Ste. Marie
  3. Saskatchewan: North Battleford, Melfort
  4. Manitoba: Winkler, Altona
